The Benefits of Rosemary Essential Oils

Rosemary is invaluable when cooking, but it has many uses beyond the kitchen. Like other essential oils, rosemary essential oil has numerous uses and health benefits.

What are essential oils?

Essential oils are liquefied plant properties. Quality pure essential oils are highly concentrated with no added chemicals. They easily utilize a variety of herbs and flowering plants that may otherwise be difficult to obtain.

How to choose an essential oil

There are many oils to choose from, each with its own benefits, so choosing one depends on your needs.

Need to relax? Dissolve lavender oil and Epsom salts in a warm bath for a calming spa experience.

Need to concentrate? Diffusing peppermint oil will increase mental clarity.

Feeling under the weather?? Give your immune system a boost with oregano oil.

Need to soothe skin? Mix frankincense oil with a carrier oil and apply to skin..

The list goes on.

How to use essential oils

Essential oils can be applied topically or through aromatherapy. Some essential oils can be ingested.

Due to the potency of most essential oils, some oils will need to be diluted with water or a carrier oil like coconut or almond oil. Otherwise, the strength of the oil can lead to skin irritation when applied topically. A general rule to follow is for every teaspoon (5cc) of carrier oil, you should use 1-3 drops of essential oil to achieve proper dilution.

For aromatherapy, oils can either evaporate by themselves (dry evaporation) or be diffused through steam or a diffuser. To use dry evaporation simply place a few drops of oil on a cotton ball or tissue and inhale the scent. For a broader effect, add oils to boiling water or a diffuser. Both utilize steam to spread the oils in the air for easy aromatherapy.

Using rosemary oil

Rosemary essential oil has long been revered  for its calming qualities.

Rosemary can be added to a carrier oil for a massage or to a bath. Take internally to ease nervous tension.

Rosemary also promotes healthy hair. Mix it with a carrier oil and massage it into your scalp to relax your body and rejuvenate your locks.

Diffusing it for aromatherapy can help fight fatigue, increase focus, and relieve stress.

Of course, it can always be added to your favorite recipes for a punch of flavor.
